Spray Painting epoxy?

I have a layer of epoxy used as water sealer on the back side of the plywood on my transom. I'd like to paint that whole area black to give it a more uniform look. Will spray paint bond alright? It doesn't need to look spectacular as most of this area is covered with the splashwell anyhow.

I used West System epoxy throuoghout the construction and fiberglassing of my boat. I then spray painted the whole rig. Just take a look at the paint manufacturers recommendation on the can. I used all Interlux products - both paint and primer. If you plan on taking a more economical approach, such as just a can of black spray paint, you still might start with a coat of primer as recommended on the can.

In any case, many epoxies generate something called an "amine blush" that forms on the surface of the epoxy when curing. It feels like a thin coat of wax to the touch. I use clean fresh water and a 3M scouring pad to remove it. You want to make sure that the amine blush is cleaned off before you paint.
