I posted this on the boat page my mistake think it sould be here. Anyway, I've been trying to get the motor preped to go and the guy at the marina keep putting me off. I have a 1992 150 hp Force. Head end was rebuilt two years ago and the lower unit last year. I bought the boat end of last season and had it winterized. I want to start it. I got the manual and I know I have to lube the lower unit and I will change the plugs. Couple of questions, how much water should be flowing through the unit with the hose on and how long can I run it like that. What else should I do. Should I put some dry gas in there. The book is pretty clear on where to lubricate etc. I'm a pretty good auto mechanic rebuilt a couple engines etc. But I never messsed with an Outboard. What should I be looking for. The benefit of your mistakes and education (may be the samething) would be very much appreciated. Thanks

Re: Spring Preg

Just put your L/U oil in it, change the plugs and put it on the muffs and see if she'll bust off. Other that that, just make sure she is not runnin hot, and take it to the lake. I have not heard of running a motor on muffs too long, so I cant say for sure. I personally have run one for as long a 30 minutes before. As long as water is going through the powerhead, and you are not racing the engine, I dont think it would matter.
