i have a dual axle trailer and while leaving the lake I made a sharp right turn on to the main road. I tried to make the turn as wide as I could while staying in my lane. One of my trailer u bolts on the left rear spring broke which caused the axle to slide back and wedge the tire against the fender which damaged the fender, ruined the tire and broke the break line.
I did did not find the broken u bolt so I am not sure if it failed or became loose. I have since replaced all of the u bolts, 1/2” with grade 5 bolts. The old bolts were not rusted or in any way damaged.
I want ant to avoid this in the future so I was looking for an explanation on what happened. Anyone have any ideas or similar experiences?
