Spun Prop..
I was out last night with the wife and spun a prop (did not even hit anything). Now that I need a new one I thought I might be able to optimize with a new one. I would like to get more speed when I have two people in the boat. The boat is a 1971 mfg 12’ with a 1988 8hp merc. Prop#48-42522-9.0. With just me + gear and perfect conditions the boat will hit 20mph(gps), with two people + gear 10-13mph depending on the weight of the passenger. It gets on plane very quickly so I think I may be able to change the pitch.
I also have no way to test the rpm so your best guess is welcome!

If you're getting that kind of performance out of an 8 hp, I wouldn't think of changing a thing.

I think I would shoot for the same prop as well...I'm thinking up or down in pitch won't be good.

Well I ordered a 10p from I boats for $55…. I figure I can use it as a spare if it does not work well, does my speed seem out of the ordinary? I was also playing with the idea of going to a 15hp next season. What should I expect from the added hp gain?
