Hi guys, Have a 26' tritoon with Volvo Penta 5.7GXI-F. Out on water this weekend after having to have fuel pump replaced. Boat ran good, approx 40mph at 4000rpm. It has a 14.25 x 17 prop. On way back to dock boat jumped up to almost 5000rpm, then back down. Got out of throttle, and stopped. Upon starting out again, if went easy would get up to about 2500rpm, boat moving. Any higher and it was like revving the engine, clutch slip. But doesnt have clutch. Would you say this is a spun hub or bad coupler. Prop shop be able to tell if it was spun. To me it looked fine. Cant do the line marks on prop. Prop with me, boat 4 hours away now. Any help really appreciated.

I believe you are correct... spun hub.

Odd this would happen with no strike (hitting something) of any kind.

This does sound like what a spun hub would do.

Could be hub or coupler. I say 50/50 chance, but it's one or the other.

Since you only have the prop accessable to you now and not the boat, indeed a prop shop can tell you if the prop hub is good or not. If it's not, then you know it's the coupler...
