Hey guys, after about 45 min of running at half throttle, when it gets warm I go to hit a no wake zone and throttle down, runs decent at low throttle. When I throttle back up it hesitates and sputters and will not operate smoothly, can also hear the valves rattling real bad, thought maybe bad gas changed both filters 2 x have ran 40.00 worth of new fuel in it, new accelerator pump and gaskets. It will also stall out when changing from forward to nuetral when docking, after stalling will not restart for approx. 10 min. any suggestions?
1990 Glastron 3.0L
Engine ser# OC862785
Alpha 1 outdrive
2 barrel Mercarb with hooked accelerator pump

When was the last tuneup (plugs, wires, dist cap, condenser)?

It sounds like tuneup and fuel residue in the carb. Did you treat the fuel before storing it last year?

Valves rattling sounds like water in the gas.

Gas won't last a couple of years no matter what you put in it. Should have drained the fuel prior to putting 40 bucks worth in there. Adding good fuel to bad won't fix the bad. Complete tune up every spring....including points and condenser. Carb could also be an issue from setting so long. (gum/varnish/crusties)

Re: Sputtering on the water

searay, He did add the stabilizer-foam while in storage but when I bought the boat I drained all old gas out and put in new prior to carb cleaner, accelerator pump and gasket set.when I tore the carb apart all looked good, seat needle all cavities, I cleaned inside with carb cleaner. I understand that when fuel in the bowl evaporates it can varnish the inside incl jets-- does carb cleaner work on this? is the varnish invisible all looked ok inside very little dirt? Thanks everyone
