Before I say what my program question is, let me give you a bit of a run down first. My home town has a few computer shops here so I went around and got the best price( maby not deal) for what I wanted.

The computer guys where I got it made up from I don't trust one bit. Have a problem with my CPU and took it back to them(today) and feel I am getting the run around. Their policy is a minumin 24 hrs turn around and if you want it before 24 hrs, they charge you $75.00 plus parts and labor. This I think is ridiculous especially when they built it for you. They are trying to tell me I have spyware or virus problems but I don't believe it for one moment. The error report that comes up states a driver is at fault(but doesn't say which one) and my programs show no spyware, etc.

So, here is my question. I have been running adware and spy sweeper( must buy this one) plus the microsoft anti spyware. they tell me the spy sweeper is gargage and shouldn't use it. It picks up items that are not even spyware so they say. I also run spybot search and destroy once in a while. Should I believe these "Techs?????" or wait until they get my machine fixed and then high tail it to another shop I can trust or believe in. I have 5 months left in my warrenty but would let it go for a reliable shop which I know of. What are your thoughts on this?

Run the micro-trend housecall it also sweeps for spyware. Give a shot and let us know.

Re: Spyware program question

Running a variety will help they all are slightly different from one another - none are perfect.

Do you have the driver name? If you do do a google search

If not you need to go into the control panel and look - any system not running will have an ! next to it, especially if its a driver.

If there is a driver error then you could go get another driver and replace the one you have

You could boot in safe mode and go look

I agree with the 24hr period, 1st you agreed when you bought it to wait that long and second - NO ONE drops what they are doing to fix a problem unless your $$$ moves you to the front of the line.

Most computer problems are software related.
go to start menu- program files-accessories-system tools- system information.
click on software environment,
then click on windows error reporting.
copy and paste the error reports, lets see if we can help you right here.

I tried springhead's click-path to find error reporting, and didn't when I clicked on System Information... nothing comes back as an option named software environment (Win XP Home SP2)

Re: Spyware program question

Tks springhead for your way of finding faults. Alot of good advice here but I said the heck with it and took it in to the expensive computer guys. As it turned out it didn't cost me a penny so I am back to being happy again. They said the RAM was at fault and fixed whatever was wrong and I am assuming they replaced it but now my putter is working fine. I also guess if you want it quicker than 24 hrs you must pay for it but $75.00 seems like a whole lot. Once again, tks for you help.
