Squeaky trailer brakes

Hello all - I have a 2008 ez loader bunk trailer with surge brakes. I was trailering my 18 foot boat on Saturday and noticed the brakes on my trailer were squeaking pretty loudly when I engaged the car brake and released the car brake. It was doing this before and after the boat was in the water. Any ideas? Is this normal or something that needs to be looked at. I'm not sure if squeaking is coming from coupler or the brakes on the tires. Thanks

You will need to take apart the breaks and look at them. Are the pads wore out? or possibly something in there.. You will never know until you take them apart and look at them.

Re: Squeaky trailer brakes

Before I tore the brakes down to see what is what I would at least lube the coupler sliding surfaces. It does not move much.
Then I would go down the road with boat in tow, (having made sure everything is secured).
Then apply the brakes in a heavy or hard matter five or six times.

Then see if it still squeaks,

Might just be from not being used enough.
