I have a 2000 Wellcraft Martinique 2600 w/ mercruiser 5.7 and bravo 3 drive.
It recently developed a squeeking sound that comes and goes, but when it is there is affected by increasing the RPM's. My first thought was that it was the belt, which is brand new (about 25 hours on it),so I tried adjusting it with no luck. Now I am thinking it is a bearing of some sort, so my question is how do I figure out which one is the problem? That is of course if I am even heading in the right directon.

Re: squeeking

An automotive stethoscope is usually the best way to track down a noise (just don't bump it into any moving parts!

The poor man's version is to use a piece of hose held up to the ear, and moved around to different areas of the engine.
