So I have a 79' wellcraft sunhatch 196 with a swim ladder that has 4 screws holding to the back of the boat. One screw has come loose and walked itself out just a little. I took the screw out and it's a good size screw about 3" long heavy duty. But screw won't thread tight. So.... Today I put a good amount of 3m 5200 in the hole and tightened the screw as much as possible.... Will it hold??????

It will as long as the other three take most of the strain. If not, you'll learn why 5200 isn't a means to every end ...

5200 is a sealant, so I wouldn't depend on it holding.

I'd remove the screw, loosely jam some water moistened paper towels into the hole so the 5200 kicks off and cures overnight, next morning over drill the hole to get the 5200 out and into fresh wood, jam epoxy into the hole, probably need to epoxy the hole several times to build it up enough, then run the screw back in,,, sealing it up with 5200.

(Don't try to epoxy over the 5200, the 5200 has already sealed the wood and the epoxy won't have anything to penetrate into.)

If 1 screw was loose, it's best to completely remove the ladder and reseal all the holes with 5200.

It seems like the other screws were covered in some type of calking? But they all seem strong

Last time i looked the tube said adhesive/sealant. The op should have epoxied the hole and red rilled
