:D I Have another thread open on the debate between Mercruser and the dinosaur OMC. I am Getting a 1970s Sea Ray SRV240 Weekender. This boat came to me in great shape and cheap due to the fact it has no engine and Drive. It came with the Big square hole OMC stringer with the electric shift. I found a combo kit complete well within my budjet. Both the engine 307 cid, and the stringer drive are completely rebuilt with less than 100 hrs on them. The unit is the long shaft version. Is this the right application for my boat? I'm told the short shaft was for Tri hull and pontoon boat applications. Is this right. Anybody have a similay Sea Ray with pics of the drive running thier boat.
Respectfully I am not looking to get into the whole debate into which drive is better. Looks I can get the boat up and runnin for under 2k if this is the right unit. Thats all I want now.
The debate however is teaching me a whole bunch and is usefull.
Thanks again for the help. Ill post some pics once I get things started, some will laugh, some will cry, and some will not care...haha
Its all in fun, right.

They are refered to as High and Low Profile electric shift drives. They did not carry this thru to the next generation of 400 and 800 model stringers. Most Searays of that era used the High Profile drive. Not really sure why except those Searays usually had a pretty high freeboard.

no, many conventional vee hulls had low profile. If you have a pic of the transom, I can tell you which your boat had originally.
