ss 90 enlarged livewell goal

I have a 96 ss 90 that I would like to modify the rear livewells on to accomodate the type of fishing I do. Currently, there are two smallish livewells side by side, just fwd of the bilge. I would like to make these two livewells into one by cutting and joining them on their inboard sides. The material they are made of looks to be heavy plastic. Does anyone know what I could use to facilitate this repair? Also, are the livewells removable without decapping the hull? Any thoughts will be appreciated.
