SS prop advice

Morning again!

I'm prop shopping, so I can use my current aluminum stock prop for a spare.. The two times I've driven the boat, the current 21 pitch prop seems to have a good hole-shot, and nice top end. I now want to up-grade to SS, and have been reading about Mercury Stiletto props. I understand these are progressive props. So that on WOT the prop has a bigger pitch correct? And that if I choose a SS 21 pitch for my boat, it would be 22-23 at WOT, and therefore, my boat may be over propped? Then my guess is to check out a 19 pitch version of the Stiletto. That should be comparable to my stock prop correct?

Thanks in advance!

Hey Bear,

Repost this in the prop questions area. You'll probably get a lot more responses.

Re: SS prop advice

Gang,

I've spent some time researching props, and with the advice of all on iboats, and I've decided to go with a 21"P Hustler prop.

see thread

http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=285660

My reasons are...

SS ain't cheap!

Not gonna see significant gain with 3.0 with SS, and risk time and cash gambling what pitch is gonna work as good as my current prop....

Have a great Thanksgiving!

What prop did you end up with? Is it progressive? All the dudes on the iboat prop fourm, said to go down at least 1"P from my current Aluminum prop... I get so confused? 4-5 mph is a significant change.

Hey dinghy berry,

Did the hole shot suffer at all with the stainless 21"P? What brand is it?

Best regards, and happy holidays!

Darn pretty...!

But, didn't you say that you ordered the 19" pitch?

Re: SS prop advice

I did at first, but then the SS vs Aluminum thread I was involved with in Prop forums changed my mind. I actually found an even pitched SS prop. We figured with the rake and cupping this 20"p should be about perfect... I canceled the 19"p and ordered this one... Hope it performs as great as it looks...
