Johnson 9.9 w/ 15 hp carb runs appx 22 mph on average...Does anybody make a SS Prop? Is there any speed benifit? Is it too much for a 15 hp motor? Where can I find one?

I did a quick search Didn't see any stainless. You really can't tell what you can use unless you know your present pitch, speed(gps) and rpm.
You may be able simply select a different pitch.
Did you change just the Carb Because I believe it needs much more than that.Do you know for a fact that you are running faster with this set up?

I don't think I'd want to swing a heavy ss prop on that little motor.

What's the reason you want a ss for it?

A SS prop on a 9.9 HP doing 22 MPH? Nah, I don't think there's any point, i.e. you wouldn't feel any difference except in your wallet. Don't think they even make SS props for such small engines.

I think you would see better results with a pitch change.

MWC used to make bronze props for the smaller engines. I bought several when I was younger.

The Reed plate also needs to be changed in order for it to be a 15hp. Changing the carbs is onle half way. I had mine done on a 96 Evinrude 9.9. Ran like a top after I installed the reed plate and carb.

Re: SS Prop on 9.9?

I did find a few SS props online for a 15 hp johnson, I won't mess w/ it, really no point. I may look into new reeds, if they are avail. I also left the air silencer off and the exhaust baffle out. Runs great for 9.9, If I remember correctly, It topped out at 20 mph w/o these changes, now w/ 10" Pitch prop and other mods, 23 mph is top end. Not much change, but fun to play with. Thanks guys

Don't change the reeds unless you need to. The OMC 9.9-15 hp motors share a lot of common parts, but OMC gave them subtle changes over the years. Some only need to have the carb swapped to make 15 hp while others needed reeds or intake or whatever else. Check the parts lists for your specific year 9.9 against the 15 hp of the same year. Whatever powerhead parts are different are the ones you need to swap.
