Hi guys,

Simple question for some expert about replacing my Aluminium prop. by a Stainless one:

If my boat is doing OK now in term of max. RPM, hole shot and top end, but I want to simply go with a Stainless Steel prop. for better performance, do I need to change anything with diam and pitch or remain with the same size of my aluminium one ??

Thanks

Smoky ;)

Stay with the same dia and pitch.

Do you get better performance out of a SS prop or does it just hold up better? If anything I would think you would get better performance out of the lighter prop.

Well, I heard that there is less flex with a SS prop. which it turns to be les slippage !!!

I may be wrong !

Smoky

SS props are generally double cupped where the aluminums are not affording better bite at higher mounting heights and less slippage in tight turns on plane. The overall blade thickness is thinner and thus cuts the water more efficiently.

When I replaced the aluminum prop with a stainless, it was like immediate hop up, the difference was very noticable from the first moment. :D :D

I believe you would want to go down 2" pitch when changing from aluminum to SS.

I changed from a composite 4 blade at 20p to a 21p stainless, and I gained 12mph top end but still retained good holeshot, if not better.

I can't believe the difference. From 38 to 50mph really amazed me.
