hi all, I have a problem finbing the correct prop for my 23' WELLCRAFT 1980 ,454 7.5L ,ALPHA 1 OUTDRIVE. this boat came with a 4 blade stainless prop 22pitch ,this prop gives 5000rpm and 53.9mph at WOT.cruse speed 3200rpm and 33.7 mph gps.a friend lent me a 25pitch marag stainless 3 blade to try ,i loved this prop, i was geting 38.0 mph at 3200rpm.5.7mph more than the 4 blade.my friend said that i should not re-pitch my 4 blade to a 25 because it will be to much torque for the alpha 1 .i dont use this boat for jumping waves or driving at wot i stay in around 3500 to 4000rpm max . need help THANKS

i would tend to agree with your friend

you could push a bigger prop which would put a BIGGER load on the drive every time you come out of the hole

tommays
