Gentlemen:

I made contact with an underwater object last weekend, and bent the tips of two of my prop blades. The damage is not serious, and I plan on using the prop for the rest of the season. The prop is a Mercruiser "High Five" Stainless.

Can someone recommend an online shop that can repair this minor damage at a reasonable price?

Regards,

usmcdad

Welcome aboard USMCDad and I'd bet you're a proud one as ya should be. I'm proud for ya.

Here's a website that may be able ta help ya out, however, I'd recommend finding someone local. If ya don't know of anyone, ask around the marinas or boat ramps.

boatpropsareus

Good luck & tell your son "thanks".

c/6
Hooty

Re: Stainless Prop Repair

Thanks Hooty.

I'm here in Indianapolis, and Denny's Marina (Crownline dealer) quoted me $100-150 to do repair -which seems steep to me. As I said the damage is minor.

Thanks for the reply.

BTW, where is the best place to sell a boat ONLINE?

Usmcdad

Re: Stainless Prop Repair

100 dollars to repair and rebalance a prop is entirly inline. and its a lot cheaper than destroying a gearcase due to a bad prop. if you think 100 bucks is an expensive repair wait until the lower units explodes. good luck but get it fixed before running it.

Re: Stainless Prop Repair

In my experience, a bent stainless prop equals a bent propshaft. Better check that out, too.

As for selling...I tried to sell my sailboat via several free marine related ad websites and now I'm bombarded with Spam. Some apparently sell the email addresses of their customers. I eventually sold it by sitting it next to a busy highway with the price in big blue masking tape numbers on the hull. I'm fortunate enough to have a good friend on the busiest highway around. I gave him a couple of Franklins for his trouble.
