Those have obviously been painted, but in looking at the exhaust end the color of the metal looks identical to all of the stainless versions I have seen. You are correct- the stainless castings are thinner than the cast iron versions, the external dimensions seem a bit smaller and they are significantly lighter. The advantages are they are lighter, smaller and last pretty much forever. I dont think there is any performance difference. The extra water inlet has to be dealt with on a newer-gen engine with revised cooling: blocking them off is fine, or run a 1 inch ID hose between them, but the block off would be cleaner-looking, and I dont know if I want a cooling hose running over the top of my engine.
