Just wondering what difference a stainless steel prop would for me if I was willing to switch. Anybody know, I hear they're better, but how?

Thanks,

Re: Stainless steel props

In my recent experiance switching from Alum to SS you gain a couple hundred RPM and a little more speed cause the SS won't flex like a alum. I had to prop a Johnson GT 150 I put on a boat this summer and went from 22 pitch Raker down to 19 pitch Alum then put on a 19 pitch stainless and that was my result more RPM and speed.

Re: Stainless steel props

Stainless props besides being stronger are more sofisticated. They can give more speed, and stern lift for better hole shot or bow lift for even more speed.
The experts will have to explain how.All that said some people have had
excellent results with the Hustler Turning Point prop.Close to stainless performance for aluminum prices.

Re: Stainless steel props

Stainless is the premium prop. The metal is stronger allowing the blades to be thinner with no flex. A thinner blade does not disturb the water as much when it cuts through the water. This means less energy lost to just turning the prop. The strength maintains shape which means the prop can be curved, cupped, multi angled, whatever to make the water move efficently for your application. The only down side is if you damage the prop severely it may not be repaireable where an alumnium prop would. It is also more expensive to repair.
