stale gas uses

Through various sources , I have about 20 gallons of old E10 ethanol mix here at the house that I do not want to run in my outboards. So what other uses have we found for this stuff? I have read about grass/weed killing, and getting rid of fire ants. [not a problem here in the northeast] but I was wondering about putting it through a water separating filter then mixing it with some fresh fuel , using it in the lawnmower, chainsaw, weed-beater, whatever. Any other Ideas ? At the price of fuel these days, I hate to just dump it, but perhaps that is the best option .

I have about 3 gallons of similar, and first I would hope you don't dump it. It has a bunch of bad stuff that will leach into the water table and the air.

Filtering it will not remove the water, add fresh gas and using in the lawn mower would help but unless your doing a lot of grass cutting it will take a while. I keep mine around for a little mix and cut grass a bit at a time, and also when I go to burn a brush pile. Take some in a coffee can and toss on the pile. Then throw a small amount of rolled up paper at it.

Could also find a recycler to take, but most want something to take it

i dissolve all the old styrofoam into old gas and make napalm. then I eliminate my brush pile with it.....

20 gallons is a lot of old gas.

Something to ponder before you dump it. I gallon will contaminate 1 million gallons of water beyond drinking water standards.

not sure how old or "stale" the fuel is, but when I have questionable fuel I burn it a little at a time mixed with new fuel (already in a tank) in mower, weed whacker, older car, etc

thanks for reminding me, something I can do outside in this weather - is it ever going to warm up in WNY?

certainly suggest not putting it into the environment

What do you consider old and stale?

All the "old and stale" gas from my boat gets mixed with fresh 91 octane, run thru a Racor filter and into the combustion chambers of my outboard

I have some fuel that is two years old and some is fuel that came with a used boat/motor that purchased, so I do not know how old that is. I would not be comfortable running it through my outboards. So I thought I would post a thread here and see if anyone has any ideas that I have not thought of.

Depends on the vehicle, but I put a couple gallons in my car at each fill up. But it's my beater car, so if something happens I'm not out a vehicle.

Let engine burn it 5:1 with fresh fuel, but will surely take long to burn all those 20 gallons leftovers.

Around here there is never old gas. we mix half and half in the Zero turn mower; it goes quick!I I .use diesel for outside fires. (Lower flash point). You mention prices? Average here is $2.25 for 87; Diesel around $3

Put it in the Mother in Laws car. If it causes the car to quit, so what

Put a couple gallons in your car before each fill-up, won't hurt a thing.

Agreed. Even dumping in the whole thing in your car won't hurt it. Modern EFI vehicles are so much less sensitive to old fuel, especially in summer. I just started up a car on 5 year old fuel and it ran fine.

Modern Emissions systems are more sensitive to contamination than ever, and oil being burnt certainly doesn't help their ability to fuction and can cause the CEL to respond to off spec sensor readings.
