Stalls out when shifting to neutral

I have a 350 merc with an Alpha One outdrive. The engine shifts smoothly however when I pull out of forward into neutral the engine will shut down. Every so often I can manage to get it into neutral without it stalling out but its rare. Thanks for any help

The same thing happened to me. I agree. Mine was stalling when I went into gear. The adjustment on the cable is very sensative. For me, the adjustment was a temporary fix due to the shift cable being stiff. I replaced mine...<br />WAGS

Pay particular attention to the shift interrupter switch on the linkage.
