Honestly never seen this problem for a five lug trailer wheel. It almost appears as if the standard 4.5x5 was replaced by a 5x5.

Ideas?

Buy new hubs in either 4 or 5lug standard pattern

Or buy 5 X 5 trailer rims and tires. Apparently they are (or were) available, but Ixve never seen or heard of them before on a boat trailer

Some people have been known to change the hub to have the trailer fit the spare for their car so the donut spare fits. One spare fits all to get someplace to get the flat fixed/replaced

If he did that, it could have a friggin Chevy hub...and he should have told me. I don't have any Chevy wheels to check out this possibility.

From what I can see so far, 5x5 is also a Chevy wheel. I can find that at a salvage yard so I have a spare.

The tires say they were made in 2011 and show no wear except that one has deep surface cracks next to the wheel. Could dog pee do that? Cracks should not normally happen, on one side only,....in six years.

Cracks do happen on one side only if there's sun only on that side when the trailer is parked for a long time.

I thought most smaller trailers did use a GM car bolt pattern?

Not at all. I have eight trailers. All of them use the Dodge/Ford bolt pattern. There are 5x5 trailer wheels so a Chevy pattern is not unheard of though I believe it is a bit rare.
