1979. Mine had it, but i've seen the same boat, but a '78, that had styrofoam planks in it.

Ya I looked back at Jas's thread and looks like his 76 was planks, hoping that will be the case on the one I am looking at Saturday

I had a 1973 26' with foam in the whole bottom. It was used for support. When I restored it I had to add AL reinforcement in the hull bottom (more stringers and ribs)because I didn't replace all of it.

if you use expando, consider lining the hull first with saran wrap so you can get it out later if you need to. you'll lose any structural rigidity foam might give you but i suspect would still get the sound deadening since the stuff is still in near 100% contact with the hull.

given that the expando these days is closed cell urethane, i'm not sure it is the end of the world to put it in permanently IF you're sure you'll never need to work on your hull or fix leaky rivets again.
