I'm interested in a local add for a Starcraft bluewater 210 fiberglass center console. I think it a early 90's model. i could not find much on internet. questions i have is: constuction -wood transom and stringer or fiberglass? heavy built or cheaply made? what would be a good price w/ 1999 Johnson 225 & trailer in good condition? Thanks for any information

Buy it they are good boats

Buy it they are good boats

The Starcraft Bluewater boats or "Offshore" as they are also labeled are really good boats for the Great Lakes or large bodies of water. They are of heavy construction and can handle the waves really well.

My wifes grandpa owns one, his is a 1988 model with the 4.3 inboard and I have fished it many times. The boat is an awesome boat for fishing Great lakes salmon or walleye.

I believe the construction is wood transom and stringers and they are fiberglassed over...there was a guy who had redone one and posted all of his pictures on here, his was a hardtop model and the wood was rotten. My wifes grandpas boat was always stored in a garage and they take really good care of it and has had no problems. I think these boats are like any boat, if you take care of them they last.

I have been searching for one for sale because I would like to purchase a boat for great lakes salmon fishing...the prices I found with the inboard 4.3 mercruiser or 5.0 have been around $9,000 for a 1989 -1990 model. This price seems high to me because other boats the same age such as an Islander or Thompson fisherman sell for 4-5000....I think the boat is worth anywhere from 4 - 9000 with that engine depending if it has been garage kept and is in great condition, obviously they have repowered it if the engine is a 1999

The thing I like about the one her grandpa has is that it has plenty of storage as well as live wells and it has the bimini top or you can do half canvas which covers the seating area so if it is raining you can still troll and stay half way dry.

I know that with the 6 cyl merc that her grandpa averages 1.8 gallons per hour which includes run time plus trolling so it is pretty economical...and will troll down to about 1.8 mph which is slow enough for lake trout.

What kind of fishing would you be doing and how much are they asking???

Re: starcraft bluewater 210CC - good boat or not???

thanks for your post. the boat i was looking at is on craig's list-new orleans for $5500.00. i did request more photos which he did send. most of my fishing is done in coastal louisiana, up to 20 miles out. i'm not a speed demon,so a heavy stable boat would fit my bill. our fishing future down here seems it will be put on hold for a while. i figured it would be a good time to buy a fixer upper and spending time restoring it. i have really been interested in the classic Makos and Robalos. they have alot of support and usful info on web for restoration. thanks aging for your reply.

I think 5500 is a good deal...while they are labled for offshore, i do not know if the boats would stand up to the saltwater, there is some teak wood on the inside as trim but not too much. It has the nice fiberglass floor which makes it easy to washdown. I know if there was one in good mechanical shape up here for that price it would get picked up quickly. Also I know down where you are alot of people like the center console boats for the gulf area and stuff but i can tell you one good thing about the boat is you stay dry and up here where its cold and the water temp is 50 to 60 degrees its nice to stay fairly dry! Good luck!
