Starcraft For Sale

Saw this locally in south Fla. Truth is I am only interested in the motor and would resale the boat but I have a couple of questions from the experts. The ad says...

"sale or trade 17.5ft starcaft boat with a 90hp engine. ready for the water everything is in good condition the transom was replaced a year ago, engine starts right up, hydraulic tilt is perfect and the seats are in good condition"

I am a glass guy and know nothing about rivets. Are there wood stringers in this style? Can one replace only the transom? Is the deck wood? What are these boats worth (w/o motor). Any thought are appreciated.

The stringers are aluminum. No wood below the plywood floor. Inspect the hull skin for cracks that lead to leaks. The flotation may be pour-in or loose lay. As in any FG boat, if the pour-in foam is wet, water will slowly accumulate in the bilge even when out of the water. - Grandad

That hull looks like it's in pretty good shape there in the photo.

I tend to think FG boats are far more common in your neck of the wood and I don't think alum has a real strong value. Maybe somewhere in the $500 to $1000 range sans engine.

Thanks for your time and advice. Like I said, I am only interested in the motor and since it's a 96 90hp Johnson at retail it may be worth around $1200 (local $$). With the boat worth about $800 and $300 for the trailer, it could be close to a break even deal. We will see if the gentleman is willing to negotiate.
