Starcraft - Help with Model Identification

I am currently working in Afghanistan for the U.S. Army and purchased a boat from a friend online. The HIN number looks like it was removed and reassigned a local state number so it is little help with identification.

I believe this is a 1982 model but would like to know anything more specific. It was modified to use for crabbing on the South Carolina coast.

It has a center console but not sure if this was part of the modification or original.

Just trying to get some info so I can do some work on it when I return to NC in the summer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Starcraft - Help with Model Identification

Actually think I found it. Possibly a 1982 MR 180.

With the lapstrake hull and that old style Starfraft emblem in it....I think you're looking at much older than '82. Maybe even '60s. Thanks for your service.....and welcome to the forum! We've got a HUGE Starcraft following here.

182091_194697007216150_100000275575071_672596_253316_n.jpgThanks, I appreciate the help! I am a southern girl who loves to fish but my options have been limited without a boat. Since I intend to use it for fishing I though the CC was perfect. The boat is currently fully functional with a 90 HP Mercury motor. I intend to do some work on it once I return home to NC and will definatley be back to this excellent forum for tips and suggestions. I have been looking at a lot of the other restorations on the site and everyone is very helpful.

It is an 18 footer, aluminum, with motor and trailer. I paid 1500.00 for all of it, do you think I got a good deal?

I intend to strip and repaint the hull and do some work on the floor and center console. There are alot of items missing from the console and I am not sure what may have been there. I have attached another photo if anyone has any ideas. ;)

Gauges in the verticle dash and electronics on the flat upper dash. Easy to add once you are home which we all hope is soon. Thank you for your service. Pugetsound

Thanks, Pugetsound. Any idea what guages? I notice two distinct holes and not sure what would have gone there. Thanks for the wishes of a quick return home as well. I should be returning in June.

Your motor by itself is probably worth at least a grand so I'd say you got a real nice deal. The boat is probably either a Starcraft Mariner (originally a CC) or an SS (originally a dual console). Either way, I doubt the fiberglass console is original. Great fishing rig for sure.

Nice rig, looks like a good deal to me for $1500:D

That console was added at some point, I agree that it could be any model converted to CC. From the factory the Starcraft Mariner model had the center console positioned farther forward than that one is.

Welcome to iboats, hope you can get back to check out the boat soon, and thanks for serving.:)

Re: Starcraft - Help with Model Identification

Thanks, Huron Angler. I thought I was getting a good deal but it nice to hear someone with more boating knowledge agree. I was thinking about moving it more forward during the restoration, so that is good to hear.

I will definately be checking back into the site when I get home and begin working on it. Thanks for the reply.
