I have a 1989 starcraft holiday 18 feet. I was wondering how much the tanks in them hold.
I am in Canada so litres is preferred, but I will take gallons too. Just need to know of they are imperial or metric. And wondering how long I may be good for using a 70hp Evinrude 2 stroke. I want to use the boat for salmon fishing on lake Ontario.

how many tanks do you have ?I had a buddy that had the 18foot islander and I believe it had a 12 gallon (imperial) tank .do you have 2 tanks?best bet is to drain and fill .you could also ask in the restoration section of this forum as there is quite a following for starcraft and maybe one of those fellas has an answer.

These boats came in many configurations, with in-floor tanks, portable tanks, permanent above deck tanks, so its really hard to tell.

My Holiday 18 i/o has 2 tanks, an 18 gallon and a 12 gallon.

They vary. In my 18' holiday, it had no below deck tank, just an above deck. The old tank was only six gallons - the new one is 12 gallons. I run a four stroke Yamaha - and I'm good for about 3-4 hours of combined cruising and (mostly) trolling. On old two stroke would use double the gas.

The reason I ask is I have been out twice, and had her opened up and trolling and the needle on the Guage doesn't move. I opened up the inspection hatch and the gas was right there in the top of the tank. Yes the boat was on the trailer and was dropped to as close to level as possible. I've had the tank out before to fix a hole in it. This might help. It is 6" deep in the middle, 24"wide and I believe 36" long. The sides of the tank bevel up to go with the contour of th boat.

Re: Starcraft holiday gas tank size.

If the tank is 36" long, that works out to 22.5 gal. Take away some for the bevel and I would say a 18-20 gal. tank. BTW - A gallon is 231 cubic inches, so figure the volume of the tank in inches divided by 231 gives the approximate gallonage.

On the gauge - does it ever move? Only a few things can be wrong. The wiring, the gauge and the sender. In no particular order.

Thanks guys. I wish I had taken pictures and posted in the restoration forum when I was redoing the transom and the floor and everything else that goes with it. I put a new float in the tank when I bought the boat. Habitually I fill it everyone before I go out. I have a fear of rum nong out of gas on the big lake. And I. Very astonished ar the lower than eclxpected fuel consumption.
