I have a 95 Mariner{aluminum} , and there are a couple of tiny pinholes/chips in the transom. From these tiny holes this clear sticky goo has been coming out. What can this be? The glue inside the transom wood? It's not a lot , just trace amounts that come out. I have been just sealing the holes up with marine grade silicone.

Do you have any pics of the goo that you could post?

No , it's very little and almost has a yellowish tint to it. The chips in the transom are very small but apparently are deep as well , so my guess is the wood inside the aluminum shell is bleeding some sort of glue?

What kind of wood is it? Sounds almost like pine sap? Are you in a hot climate?

Not sure what kind of wood is inside , the outer transom is aluminum and underneath it is wood but I have no idea what kind. Pine sap is a good guess , but do they actually use pine for a transom? I would think they'd use marine grade plywood , laminated with tons of glue.Very strange , this goo comes out of every little chip in the transom , as long as the chip is deep and goes through to the wood.My remedy has been sealing up with marine grade silicone , but it's such a small amount that the silicone usually comes off after time.I just want to avoid getting saltwater in the inner transom.
