Hey guys,
I am about to start updating a 53 starcraft holiday and have a question about setting up a live well. The current live well looks like it homemade stainless tank welded todether and it serves as a base of a seat. It has a drain that gets sucked out when I run the bilge pump but that is it. I am looking at setting up a live well that feeds water to it versus filling it up with a bucket I filled hanging over the side of the boat. I know I need a livewell pump and I am planning on having it above the water line on the boat so I am wondering what is the best way to set this up. If anybody has any diagrams or ideas that would be great!
Thanks,
James

Re: Starcraft restore and livewell question

James, imho, the best way is to set it up, with a 2 thru hull fittings. in the transom. one is the inlet, that connect directly to the pump at the stearn, the other is the overflow, and drain combo. you need the fittings on the livewell, one is the fill, 2nd the drain, in the bottom of the well, 3rd the overflow, on the side of the well. both drain and overflow can be connected together.

you put the stopper in the drain, turn on the pump, well fills, to overflow, then you can periodically turn the pump of to refresh the water in the well, or let it run constantly. drain and overflow line should be bigger than inlet line, to keep from over flowing the well.

Thanks again TD!
just a couple more questions on the 2 thru hull fittings. The first one to the pump I am assuming is below the water line on the transom. Does the pump keep the water from coming into the live well unless it on or is it just because the live well is above the water line? Also I am thinking I need to keep the drain/overflow thru hull fitting above the waterline but lower than the livewell is this correct?
Thanks.

Re: Starcraft restore and livewell question

they can all be below water line, water equalizes it level.
