I found this beauty by chance...I was selling a motor on craigslist and ran into a guy who was looking for a motor for his "old aluminum" so I decided to take a look and I couldnt believe what I saw...A beautiful SS V5. I had a 1974 18' SS for aboat a year when I was 18 until the motor went bad. I was so disappointed and had spent so much time redoing that boat and couldnt afford another motor so I had to sell it. For the last few years I had been looking for a nice 18' but could never find one for a decent price until this one came along. Doesnt need much work just maybe new carpet. I'm new to the page but have been on iboats for awhile and was hoping I could get in the club. Heres a pic of the new boat and my old boat.

Re: Starcraft SuperSport V5

Anybody have any history info on the v5 hull? Anything I should look for when I redo the boat? I plan on keeping the boat for a long long time.

Check out the brochures link in my signature, the '78 or '79 brochure has a write-up about the V-5 hulls. They made the 18-22' SS and Holiday V5s for a couple of years. I will own one someday:)

Welcome aboard Spivy, that SS will use a bit less fuel than the boats in your signature:D

I got the big sister to your V-5. Love the pic, mine is going to get painted just like yours. Read my threads in my sig for the tear down process. We had ours out 10 times before I started working on it and it rides very nice, is very roomy and it's light. I hope to get back to it this week and get my floor and splashwell in so it can be painted. I've been on mandatory 60 hours a week at work for quite some time, so not much has happened lately, but it's looking like this might be the last week.

When you get a chance, post some pics of the interior.
