removed the vro system on my Evinrude 50. put it in the garage for the winter after fogging it and then removing the vro system. would like to start it for just a few seconds in the garage without the earmuffs on. .i just want to check if it starts and the warning horn does not blow. do you think it would be ok? it usually takes a few seconds even with the ear muffs for the water to come out of the pee hole.

if you won't be fishing in the garage I would wait till you launch it or run muffs properly otherwise you may cause needless wear on the impeller.

Gee, not sure what you hope to accomplish. What warning horn are you not expecting to hear?

Impeller will be running dry, which is not good for it. Does the fuel supply have oil mixed in?

I will guess the cold is sending you down this path. Wait until spring, put a water supply on her, mix up some 50::1 fuel and test her....that would be my recommendation.

the no oil horn. I ran it with a 50 to 1 before I fogged it and shut it down. will be leaving for florida for a month and I sort of want to know everything is all right when I come back and be ready to fish. sort of a mental thing.

Did you unplug the VRO pump and remove the wires for the tank. If so you should not have a no oil alarm.

unplugged the pump wires and removed the whole pump. plugged the line coming in. I think I will put the battery back in the boat and just turn the key to on but not turn it over. usually the horn would sound when I just turned the key to the on position.

That tells you nothing. If the pump is gone it is physically impossible for the no oil alarm to go off. The beep when the key is.turned only tells.you the horn works. Did you remove the tank?

I removed the tank, unplugged the pigtail, and plugged the line that was going to the fuel pump from the vro tank. using the vro fuel pump.

Ok then with the pump and tank unplugged the only alarm you have left is overheat.
