Hi, Dave.<br /><br />Could be the starter, could be the battery, could be the wiring.<br /><br />Measure battery voltage with the starter engaged. If it drops below about 9volts it hasn't adequate charge. Try again after the warm-up. If the voltage is then higher, you may have a slow short leaking battery charge. Troubleshoot for an electrical leak when the electrics are supposedly off.<br /><br />If the battery voltage is up, say over 10volts, measure the voltage from the starter terminal to the block with the starter engaged. If it is also up. . . over 9 volts, remove the starter and clean the surfaces that contact the block. If you get the same result, clean the commutators and put in new brushes.<br /><br />If battery voltage drops below 9volts with the starter engaged when cold or warm, test the battery condition with a hygrometer for a weak or dead cell.<br /><br />Good luck.
