Good Morning, I have 1971 Evinrude 18 HP. Total rebuild, I'm doing well for 1st time, pretty straight forward. I want to add electric starter. They didn't have that year, but I have an old starter and bracket (very important). My question is: Where to mount solenoid? I need part number too. Where did them put on the 1975's maybe? Does anybody have pics or diagrams or a link with Pics? also where should I put start button? and my Kill button wires are rotten. What gauge is wires and where can I get, what can I use for new kill button, I think they are obsolete now. Thanks for replies and any question don't hesitate to ask

The starter was available for 1957 models to 1976 motors.---Same starter.----Various different brackets as per cowling design on early ones.---Solenoid mounted on them in last few years.-----Look for a starter / stop button on the much newer model 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 HP models
