Hi,
I hope I'm describing these parts correctly. I have a 90 HP 2007 Merc OB. The starter gear stayed engaged to the flywheel because the nut on top of the cap and spring backed off. I'm confused how this happens (60 hours on motor) and it seems the starter turns inthe opposite direction of the threads.
Ever heard of this? I re-tighted but fear it will happen again. should I replace starter, spring and nut?
Help is much appreciated.
