I am taking a starter off my 350, alpha engine. To get to it I had to remove the manifold. I have the bolt furtherest forward off, the one closest to the stern is rubbing against the dust shield. I cant fit socket or wrench on the bolt (9/16) any one have a suggestion on how to get this thing off.

if you can deform the flywheel dust cover lip ,you should get a socket on it

Re: Starter Change....

I have the same engine and same problem, I just did the starter as well.

Solution: take your 9/16" socket, use a 1" extension on a flex-head ratchet ... grind down the walls of the socket.

I also decided to remove the exh manifold to make room.
