There is a company called "skytec" that makes lightweight aircraft starters. They weigh about 1/3 of a regular one.
They have a smaller motor which runs faster and has a gear reduction on the end.

Is there anything like that for outboards ? My old autolite starter must weigh 30 lbs...….

Have we discussed your starter before? Is it the old "big" 6-Volt starter? If so, the 12-Volt starters are smaller and lighter. But you know what that entails, right? Hardly worth it just to save a few pounds.

Edit: I just saw your other post on the same subject. Yes you can convert it to a 12V starter, but it takes a different bracket, which is fairly rare.

If there was a demand then someone would build a lighter // newer / better starter for this 60 year old outboard.
