So I was about to buy a starter drive assembly off of i boats, and realized it may not be the correct one. I went to Sierra's page also. I found some old posts here to. I have a 1979 Evinrude V-4 85hp. I have the Prestolite starter. The teeth are worn out. The OE # 386102 does not match the description for my year it says there is a clip style? Is this the correct drive assembly or do they not make it anymore thanks. If not what are my options. A new starter.

Re: Starter drive assembly?

Wow always going the extra step with links and all, I tell everyone with a boat in my area about this place it rocks. Have you used the ebay starters from that company before is the failure rate high? I find it kind of interesting that Evinrude liked to use the prestolight starters all 4 of the older Evinrudes had these so do friends that I have worked on and BRP wants $90.00 or you need a new starter. I guess that is my route then. Im going to do a lower seal kit in my lower unit and waterpump that is my next project.
