starter engages immediately when battery is turned on

I have twin omc cobras ford 5.0. inboard sterndrive 1995

The starter would engage when I turned key to start position and won't stop when the key is turned off.

Replaced ignitions switch. same problem

Replaced solenoid, now starter engages immediately when batter is turned on.

Does not matter what position key is in.

Is it the starter relay or something to do with the starter itself?

Don't get all excited, you only posted it 2 hours ago. Do you have a full model number for this engine?

Which solenoid did you replace, the one on the starter, or the slave solenoid?

Well the reason is there is power to the silanoid on the small terminal for somereason and that is what you will have to find out WHY?
