I'm a little confused. Had a starter rebuilt from a 1975 25 evy. I'm in the process of installing it start to my 18 HP 1971. My question, When I pull the cord my flywheel turns clockwise, but when turn the bendex on starter , it also turns clockwise, it would then make the flywheel turn counter-clockwise? Before I hook the battery up and break stuff. Am I right to be confused, The guy at the starter place told me to come back, but I don't want to seem stupid when I get there. .Also I have seen videos on Youtube suggesting I need to change the flywheel ring, is there anything to that?

Fact is your flywheel turns clockwise. They never made any different.

NOT fact is the starter also turns clockwise. Are you sure about that? Have you connected it to a battery and confirmed which way it goes?

Thanks for reply. Just wasn't sure, and I wanted to double check before I broke something. All is good. I will try to start tomorrow or tonight
