starter for a 4 cyl 3.0L 1995 Mercruiser

Hi all -<br /><br />I think my starter is starting to go bad. It sometimes makes a grinding/spinning sound while turning over the ignition. I guess my question is two fold -- 1) Do I have to replace the whole starter? 2) Can I buy a starter that will work at an auto supply store?<br /><br />Thanks in advance!

Hello<br /> take the starter to a good starter/altenator shop or find an ARCO electic dealer. iboats probably has a site someplace. dont try to use the old auto starter for 29.95. its just not worth the risk<br /> Good luck and keep posting
