I need a new starter for my Mercruiser 350 with staggered bolt pattern, where can I get an affordable one that is ignition protected? Ebay has some, but most are not ignition protected.

Will the starter need to be CW or CCW rotation?

Ayuh,... Standard rotation,...
The motor is CCW, clockwise as viewed from the pulleys....

Re: Starter for Mercruiser 350

I put one of the ones from DBelectrical in my Chevelle, I realize it's a car but it's the same one they sell for marine use. I think most of those newer style gear reduction units are sealed internally the way they are built, you'd see it if you ever took one apart. Anyway, it's a made in china deal, but it always cranks over when I hit the switch. I'd buy another if the situation presented itself.
