Just want to verify with you guys.
I go to start the boat yesterday as i unload from trailer. Starts great, sounds good, no issues. I pull around to the dock load up and leave. All good. About 30 minutes later after sitting for a while we start it back up and it makes a terrible grinding noise. Now, i must preface this by letting you know last week we replaced the alternator belt because it was skipping. So with that in mind, i left the motor running for a minute, pulled the engine cover and took a look. I thought we made a mistake on the front end when we put it back together... possibly the alternator making the noise. Negative. I shut it down. Go to start again and it's fine. Took me a few tries but i was able to duplicate the noise... left rear of the engine. bingo, all made sense.
Am i right? Starter staying engaged?
