starter motor 4.3 swap

Hi all
my mercruiser 4.3 has a 4 pin starter motor which one of the pins has a purple wire to fuel pump this starter motor is broken I have a spare with 3 pins can I connect the purple wire somewhere else

Ayuh,.... If yer spare starter only has 2 terminals, it's the Wrong starter, 'n probably automotive, not marine rated,...

The outer tiny terminal provides battery voltage to the ignition, 'n possibly the fuel pump,...
