Ok, two different questions here.

1.) The pinion gear on my starter has broken a gear tooth. Is that something that would be carried at most autoparts stores?

2.) I noticed water leaking out of the port side, flat part of the powerhead. I believe it's called the water plate or exhaust plate??? It looks like it has a gasket all the way around. I am assuming that this should be an easy replacement??? correct?

The gear can be gotten at any starter shop. The leak is easy if you can find the gaskets. You need to fill out the profile so we know if you run in salt or fresh water.Salt water will possibly make the job a lot harder.J

Re: Starter pinion and water leak

Thanks Jerry,

I will update my profile, but I live near St. Louis, so freshwater only.:)
I called several boat dealers in my area, but none had the parts in stock. I will order them and install later this week.
