Starter problem

I turn the key and the starter turns but does not eject out to the fly wheel. I retry and then it works properly. This happens intermittently and sometimes. The battery is fully charged. I am not sure this starter has a solenoid. I think it works by centripetal rotation to eject up to the fly wheel. Any suggestions? If it is the starter, where can I get one, cheap - or should I get it rebuilt?

The boat is a 1989 Searay 160 bowrider with 100hp Mariner Outboard engine SN: 0C207542

Re: Starter problem

Clean and lubricate the grooves in the starter shaft (spray brake/carb cleaner works well for this).
