Ok, I have posted theis earlier my starter works most of the time and other times the solenoid just clicks.
I have checked all connection done all the elertical diagonsis everything is fine.

I loosen the starter and shake it: then tighten it back up and it turns over.

Sounds like the starter I took the strater out took it to NAPA and it worked fine they said nothing wrong. But what do they know about marine starters?

Do I get a new starter? Any suggestions are appreciated!

Re: Starter Problem

If the starter still works, then no. Find out where the problem is, and fix that.

Is the "click" a single click, or repeated clicks? Are you getting power on the main starter cable? Is it your starter solenoid, or the main solenoid that's clicking?

More info, please. :D

Re: Starter Problem

Single click to the slave solenoid. The slave solenoid has been tested and is not the problem. I am getting full power to the strater motor on the cable and the gound is good.
I believe the problem lies in the starter solenoid.

Try jumping a wire from the main cable, to the 'S' terminal, and see what happens. If you get no result by jumping it, then it's the solenoid. If it turns over, you have a wiring issue somewhere.

If you need a new solenoid, I have an extra one I can sell you cheap.

Re: Starter Problem

That narrows it down to the solenoid on the starter . Because when I had a ignition problem I was able to jump or corss the two posts on the starter w/ a screwdriver to get it started.
Its a 86 Sea-ray seville, what do you want for the starter soleniod?

Year of the boat won't much matter, but I think you said it was a Delco starter. If the solenoid looks like the one pictured, below, it should work for you.
