So, maiden voyage and I've always had either Evinrudes or Yamaha, so no
experience with anything that is Mercury. I charged the battery before I
went out to 100% (at least that's what the batt. charger said) and I noticed
that every time I started it, there's a slight "hesitation" before the starter
engages. Is this a "trait", or does it sound like my starter is starting to outlive
it's usefullness? If it's a "Mercury Thing" then I'll leave it, otherwise I'll go ahead
and order a new one as it doesn't look like it's a big job or anything. However,
she started every time I asked her to this morning.
The other thing, I suppose it could be, is the battery? I haven't really looked
that closely at it so i don't know what kind of starting amps it provides.
I found out something else about this boat (Sugar Sand Mirage-'96), by the
way. Looks like the PO changed out the impellar at some point because
I've got a stainless one on there and I'm sure that wasn't a factory choice.
The wear ring, if I know what I'm looking at actually, seems to be on the
"newer" side, or this thing hasn't been used a lot.
