starter question

is there a way to have the starter push the gear out with out spinning its on a 4.3 V Mercuries with 3 wires to the starter purple red and yellow with a stripe thanks

remove the main battery cablefrom the starter, apply 12V to the Yellow / w stripe lug.will energize the solenoid but not the starter motor.
