hey guys i have a 1983 mercruiser 260 v-8 (chevy 350) and am needing to get a new starter, I know vehicle starters are a no no, but I have also read that some of the newer gm starters are closed off and might work. I am wanting to get this done asap so would be nice if one from oreillys or advanced or even autozone would work? ???????

Thanks in advance guys

Re: Starter question

NAPA sells marine as well as your mercruiser dealer. The quicker you want it the more you will probably spend.

Maybe you have a local shop that can rebuild yours?

Re: Starter question

Take your starter to your local starter/alternator/electic motor rebuild and repair shop. They can usually fix alternators cheaper than you can buy them.
