Starter rebuild

Can a marine starter be rebuilt to uscg standards using a reputable auto starter shop? If so should I ask specific questions about components they use, or should I just puchase a new one? Thanks Spoon

Ayuh,...

Basically, there's a 1 part difference betwee the Automotive,+ Marine starters.....
The Marine version has a steel plate mounted between the electric motor side,+ the bendix drive side....
That keeps the sparks of the motor side under control....
